Many of you will now have heard the sad news that our Chair and friend, David Oldershaw, passed away recently.

A private funeral service will take place on Monday 7th October and afterwards David’s family has invited  friends, neighbours and colleagues to join them in a celebration of  David and his life at College Court, Knighton Road, Leicester at 2.30pm.

The notice below appeared in the `Leicester Mercury’ on Tuesday 17th September 2019;

OLDERSHAW David Bertram

David now reunited with his wife Nessa, dying after a short illness on 30th August 2019.

David was much loved by all of his large and extended family and his numerous devoted friends. He will be greatly missed for his warmth, humour, generosity, general sense of fun and quirkiness and his full appreciation of life.

Following a Private Funeral Service there will be a service to `Celebrate David and his Life’ at College Court, Knighton Road, Leicester on Monday 7th October at 2.30pm to which all friends, neighbours and colleagues are invited.

David loved flowers, but none are required on the day thank you. Alternatively, buy yourself a flowering plant in David’s name and watch it grow, by way of remembrance.

Donations are being gratefully received for either Leicester City of Sanctuary or L.O.R.O.S c/o A.J. Adkinson & Son, Funeral Directors, 12 London Road, Oadby LE2 5DG. Tel: 0116-2712340 or online at

Their separate gardens have been merged and now form 16 acres of lovingly cultivated grounds and greenhouses with a wide variety of planting, natural habitats, form and colour.
